A holistic approach will support and empower you to move forward ...

A holistic approach to wellbeing
Every single experience calls for a holistic approach.  I believe this is absolutely necessary, in my mind and heart, for anything and everything, as we are all unique and holistic individuals.

None of us are the same.  We are as unique as our finger prints.  There is no part of us that is the same as another.  We may share similarities, as we do as human beings, but we are all so very different.
We don't think the same.  We don't feel the same.  We don't share the same heart, mind or body.  We each live within our own bodies, as holistic vessels, or containers, or whatever phrase feels right for you.  We may have similar experiences and yet, we still wont ever feel the same way or move through something in the same way to anyone else.

We all have our own truths within our own lived experiences.  Every feeling and emotion is valid.  Each experience asks and needs to be acknowledged, in the truth of what it really means, personally for us all.

Every single thing asks for a truly holistic and personalised approach.  Any challenge we face, changes we move through, transitions we find ourselves in and evolve with.

I often think of a very simple example of a holistic approach with a health challenge.  Let's talk about back pain, for instance.  Two people have the same MRI scan done of their back and both come back with the same result.  There's a herniated disc or a pinched nerve perhaps.  And yet, only one of these people are presenting with pain.  The other person has no pain at all, despite these results on imaging saying that they should.

This to me, is a simple way of explaining how we are all so very different.  We all feel pain in different ways.  Medical tests are one thing, but how we feel and embody things within ourselves, is such an integral part of everything.  It's this holistic way of being, this holistic understanding and awareness of ourselves as unique indiviudals that to me, is necessary for wellbeing.  And I believe it allows us to feel empowered to understand ourselves as holistic and whole.

Our bodies, minds, hearts, spirit - everything is connected.  There is no one part of us that is separate to another.  It's very true the saying - 'we are what we eat' - and also -  'we are what we think'.

I believe we are also what we feel, what we do, how we are, the thoughts aned beliefs we have about ourselves and others and the world we live in, our past experiences, our childhood, our environment internally and externally to us, our sense of belonging, our connection to others, the quality of our relationships, and so much more.

Every single part of us creates the environment we live, breathe and take in.  The empowering thing is, that we can choose to make changes to this environment at any time.  Internally and externally.  We can make conscious and intentional choices to change what we can, in all the ways available to us, for our own wellbeing.

When I work with my clients, it's always in this truly holistic way. With any experience or circumstance in life. Including grief and loss and the complexity of all these emotions and manifestions in our bodies.  Our emotions can manifest as physical symptoms, just as physical symptoms  may affect our thoughts and emotions.  It's a reason why I absolutely believe with all health challenges, including mental health, anxiety and depression., that healing comes with a truly holistic and personalised approach.

Depression isn't the same for any one person. It deeply asks and calls for a holistic approach.  Even more so these days, as mental health rises, I believe there is a need to be aware of how we see and treat depression and mental health.  There is always a reason and a root cause (a naturoapthic term I use here) as to why we may feel depressed, and to not get to this 'root cause' and address this, and only mask the symptoms, is doing the individual a huge dis-service.  I believe we must look deeper to what's truly going on, how all parts of us are connected, and it's this holistic approach that understands how our feelings and emotions are so unique to each person.

It's why my first conversation with anyone through mental health challenges is to say 'Let's sit, let's talk'.  I want to know how someone really feels, what's going on in their heart and their lives, what's underneath it all, and what makes this human suffer and feel pain expressed as depression, anxiety, fatigue, exhaustion, or anything they are experiencing.  I don't ever choose to blanket these feelings and emotions only with treatments at surface level.  Medications and some natural therapies are great at supporting symptoms, but are often presecribed too easily.

Instead, I see a deep need, even more so, for a more holistic approach.  And I choose to hold space and acknowledge an individual within it all, to feel safe in talking about it, exploring it all, unraveling all the layers, and to trust in the process of holistic healing in this supportive way.

Creating an environment with compassion, where someone can feel safe, and trust, to talk things through, to feel seen and heard and deeply listened to in the truth of their own lived experiences.  To understand themselves in an empowering way to make conscious choices and changes.  And I believe this is possible.  And I believe this for all health conditions and illness.  I also believe this for all kinds of different challenges, changes and transitions as phases of our lives.

I believe more than anything that what truly heals, is deep acknowledgement and compassion - in the true sense of the word - sitting with someone, deeply listening with presence, being with them, and within it all.

I also think a huge part of holistic healing is feeling empowered to see ourselves as individuals - whole and complete.  Not broken.  Nothing that needs or should or must be fixed.  Just our own awareness and understanding - and willingness - to make choices and changes that are truly right for us.

Working with any client, I always draw from all my skills as a nutritionist,  naturopath, counsellor, holistic psychologist, health coach, life coach and meditation teacher - all of these, over the past 15 years - along with my own personal lived experiences - to be with and alongside a client in a truly holistic way.

To really see and understand connections between everything, to look to the root cause and what's underneath, and not just address things at surface level.

I look at each unique indivual as a whole and connected being.  This my approach to everything and to everyone, and I honestly believe it's this approach that brings sustainable, empowering and beautiful change.  I know this from working with hundreds of clients.  I know this powerfully within myself.
