How to cope in isolation or lock down ... ask someone who lives with a chronic health condition ...3/21/2020
This is a truth bomb today. It really is. As these times are calling us to really reflect on many things. Including those around us who have a lot of courage and wisdom that perhaps we just haven't realised. And now's the time to listen and to ask these people for support.

In so many ways, social media is no different to the news or the media.
Just as it's important for our mental wellbeing, in these uncertain times, to stay informed but to limit our intake of news and media - it's the same with social media. The messages might be different. Perhaps the intention behind messages on social media may also be different. But it's still heightened with all the words, opinions, thoughts, stories, voices. There's so much information we are continually exposing ourselves to, taking in and absorbing, and spending so much of our energy posting or scrolling through social media. What's on my heart and my mind, right now, is not only coronovirus as a pandemic. It's the impact of everything right now, on our mental health and wellbeing.
We are all feeling it, myself included. I've been talking to so many people in our community who are fearful, anxious, exhausted, sleep deprived, feeling depressed, overwhelmed, feeling increased symptoms of pain they may live with, worry about their parents and children and families, and a theme being expressed of very deep uncertainty. Have you ever been told that it's all in your mind? Or the symptoms you live with are all in your head?
These words can feel so disempowering, especially in the way the medical world may often talk about this. The reality is, that it's very true. Everything does begin in our minds and brains. Just not in the way we are often told and start to believe in a disempowering way. I passionately want to support you in understanding and changing this. |
