We all have the ability to take control of our health and our wellbeing. Whatever we live with - virus, illness, pain, disease - we can choose empowering ways to support ourselves to feel better, and well. Before you read a few ways I've mentioned below, I'd love for you to just take a few moments to think and see yourself as a holistic being, all parts of you, connected - your mind, body, spirit, heart, soul - physical, emotional, spiritual, energetic parts are not separate, but all functioning and supporting each other together - as you are one whole being. Seeing ourselves in this holistic way, is one of the most empowering things we can do, to choose to support ourselves through all health issues, illness, pain and disease. Empowering ourselves, means taking control and self responsibility for the choices and decisions we can make, to feel better and well. Understanding things we can do for ourselves. Becoming educated in choices we can make. Being informed, having the trusted advice of others for support, but also learning to listen to ourselves in every way, to feel connected within - to know what is right and true for us, as holistic beings, and unique individuals.
Understanding just how connected we are as whole beings. The impact our emotions and feelings have on our physical bodies - how stress and anxiety, for instance, can lower our immune system, and make us more susceptible to illness. How suppressed emotions and feelings can manifest as physical symptoms. The power of our minds and this true mind/ body connection - that we can hold ourselves back from feeling well, or we can choose to support ourselves to feel better, to feel well, and to thrive. I believe this is true through all health issues, illness, chronic pain and disease. I believe it is so empowering and liberating, to choose and to be willing to see ourselves in this holistic way, and to believe in our own innate ability to feel well, to feel better, to even heal, and to thrive. So, what are a few ways that I can mention here, as a place to begin and to start seeing yourself as a whole being, to know how to support yourself to feel well? I thought I'd mention just five (5) ways here, and if you would like further support, then I am here for you and I would love to work with you and support you in so many empowering ways, for your whole wellbeing. 1. Choose ways to support our immune system Cooking and eating healthy food - fresh fruit and vegetables full of nutrients and vitamins our bodies need to thrive. Supporting our gut health and digestive system - the mind/ gut connection has such an impact on our immune system and our whole wellbeing. If our digestive system is not feeling well, then our whole beings will feel the impact of this. The foods we eat affect our emotions and our mental health - some foods can make us feel stressed and more anxious. Some foods can increase inflammation in our bodies and lower immune function, and increase pain. Supporting our digestive health is vital for feeling well. Getting enough sleep and truly making rest a priority. Taking vitamin D for immune health and/ or sitting in sunshine whenever we can, and taking other supplements, herbs and nutrients to boost our immune health, so our bodies are in the most vital state they can be, to thrive. Finding and knowing ways to manage stress and anxiety, as these emotions can lower our immune system, and increase any health issues or pain, and our bodies reaction to illness. Just a few things to mention here - there are so many more, of which I would love to support you with, in a truly holistic way, for you to feel better and well through illness and for your immune system to thrive. 2. Visualise and see yourself as a healthy, well and whole being. This is just one very empowering, and powerful, choice we can make for ourselves. We are not broken. We don't need fixing. We don't need to see ourselves as defined or limited by any illness, pain, or disease. We can visualise ourselves as healthy and well, doing things we love to do. Make this a practice every day, for yourself, and over time, you will notice just how much more control you feel and have with your whole wellbeing. How much better you feel in yourself, in every way. You'll start feeling capable of doing more things, letting go of the fear of doing things, and embracing a life you love, in all the ways you can choose. I would love to support you to know how to do this, and embrace this, for you to feel better, and to thrive. 3. Notice and change the language you use. Notice the words and language you use, when you speak about your health. Notice how often you use the words 'sick' or 'unwell' or 'pain', or 'fatigue', and how this truly makes you feel, and the affect these words, language and thoughts have on how you see yourself. If we start telling ourselves all the time that we are 'sick', then we will feel more sick and unwell. If we tell ourselves all the time that 'this hurts' or 'I'm in so much pain' or 'I have no energy, I'm so tired' - then we sill start to feel even more this way. Instead, if we start telling ourselves that we are 'well and vital and strong', then we will start to believe this, we will start to truly feel and embody these thoughts and ways of seeing ourselves, and over time, we will feel better, feel more well, and we will start to thrive. Don't allow yourself to focus on words or language that feel negative to you and don't support your optimal wellbeing, for healing. Don't allow yourself to focus on the words of 'sickness' or 'illness' or 'disease' or 'pain' - but to only focus on the words that feel empowering and positive to you. Start changing the language you use, and your body will start changing along with it. Take some time to really reflect on this, and notice what comes up for you. It's such an empowering way to choose to feel better, and to have control over how you feel. I would love to support you further with all of this, as I know just how powerful these changes can feel and be. I always say to my clients, and have said to myself - don't talk about how much pain you're in all the time, don't talk about how tired you feel, don't talk about how unwell you feel. We might just allow ourselves a certain time of day that we release these emotions and feelings, or we might talk about things with someone we trust - like me, as someone who will support you - but we don't dwell there, or make it a constant part of our everyday life. Knowing this, and changing this, makes such a difference. There are so many empowering ways we choose to change how we see and believe ourselves to be. Our minds and bodies are so connected, and with practice, with self compassion, with support and tools to guide us - we can make empowering choices to change our brains reactions to everything, and really feel the impact this has on our whole being, to feel well. 4. Learn and know ways to calm your mind, and to feel more ease in your whole being. Meditation is so empowering and healing in this way. It's profound the affect that meditation can have on supporting us to feel better and well. Learning to truly surrender. Being able to transcend any pain (physical, or emotional). Letting go of the need to control or have any expectation or pressure on ourselves. Leaning into a space of deep stillness and inner calm, and with practice, we can let go, release, and find a place with us, for ease and peace, where profound healing can flourish and grow. We can cultivate beautiful and empowering ways of being, with self awareness, and compassion, and we can find ourselves responding rather than reacting, feeling free from stress or anxiety, and it is an incredible way to re-set our nervous systems, to create an internal environment for us to thrive. I cannot encourage you to meditate enough - I'd love to teach you, as part of supporting you, in every way. I also love to create meditations and you can find many of these through my website to listen to. I also love to guide my clients through empowering mediations, as part of holistic support, to feel better, to embody wellness, and to thrive. 5. Smile and laugh more often, every day. These are such powerful medicine, and boost our wellbeing in every way. And in these times, especially, it's so vital to know how to feel joy, to feel uplifted, to stay hopeful and to embrace happiness in all the ways we can. Smile at people, even when if you don't feel well. Smile at yourself in the mirror, and gift yourself this kindness. Seek out things to laugh at, and people to laugh with. We take things and life so seriously, and when things feel uncertain, it can be so empowering to shift ourselves from feeling heavy, to embracing lightness and more joy. Even more so, when we don't feel like it. Make this a daily practice, and really notice the shifts and changes this makes to how you feel, and your whole wellbeing. There are so many other empowering ways I would love to mention and write about here. So many ways we can use the power of our minds to support us to feel well. So many ways we can learn and know to truly support ourselves in every way. Practices we can learn and do, each day that truly make a difference. Ways of being we can embrace that shift and open so much. The power of the language we use, the thoughts we think, the ways we choose to see ourselves, and what we believe about ourselves - and how to let go of all these limiting beliefs that can hold us back. Ways to lean into ease and calm, in every way, to soothe our being, to bring comfort to all parts of us, and to uplift us in every way - and the changes all of this brings. Ways to feel less defined by anything we live with and to truly see and believe ourselves as whole and well beings. Understanding our values, and how living aligned with our true values, impacts our health and wellbeing, and can bring so much meaning and purpose and support us to feel better and well. Knowing our unique personality traits and qualities that make us human, and empowering changes we can make within ourselves, to support and nourish ourselves in truly positive ways. There are so many things, and so many ways, that are empowering to feel better through health issues, illness, pain and disease. I think there is so much that is relevant and necessary for us all. Especially more so, in these times and uncertainty. We can make empowering choices for ourselves, to feel better, to feel well, for our whole wellbeing. I cannot encourage you enough, to consider this, in every way. I am here to support you, and would love to work with you - https://www.katiejanewellness.com/coachingsessions.html And perhaps something has resonated through reading this, and I'd love to know in a comment, if you feel called to share.
